How does the F1 pit stop game work?
When the car stops in the box, tap the jack to lift it. Each wheel then needs two taps: Off to take the old tyre off and On to fit the new one. A wheel only lights up once its wheel gun is ready, and all four work at the same time. When all four are on, tap Release. The clock stops and your time is ranked against real stops.
How fast is a real F1 pit stop?
In the 1,748 timed stops since 2024 used here, the typical stop took about 2.7 seconds and the quickest was 1.5 seconds. That is the time the car is stationary, from stopping to being released. A stop over 6 seconds is a problem stop.
Are the pit stop times real?
Yes. The target stops are real race stops from 2024 to 2026, with the team, race and lap shown. They come from the stationary times Formula 1 publishes in its live timing. Stops under 1.5 seconds are treated as data errors, and stops over 6 seconds are left out, as is any stop where the time was not recorded.
Can I beat a real F1 crew?
It is hard. A real crew of mechanics changes four wheels with four wheel guns at the same time, while you tap ten times. Beating a quick real stop is a real achievement. The ranking shows how many real stops you were faster than.
What are the penalties?
Tapping the jack or a wheel before it is ready adds 0.2 seconds. Releasing the car before all four wheels are on is an unsafe release and adds 2 seconds, and you still have to finish the wheels.
What is the daily stop?
Everyone gets the same real stop to beat each day, so you can compare how you did. You can try it as many times as you like, or play a random stop. Your best time and day streak are saved in your browser only.
What does Box Box mean?
"Box, box" is the call a team makes on the radio to bring a driver into the pits. The garage is the box.
